Housing, spray plate, and nozzles

Swivel joint

Fixed wall-mounted head

Within its intended valve system, the cartridge opens and closes passages and controls some combination of water flow and hot-to-cold mixing. Its geometry, seals, ports, stem, and control function must match the valve family.

Diverter or transfer control

Pressure balancing versus thermostatic control

Pressure-balancing and thermostatic mechanisms address temperature-related changes differently. Weak or uneven spray

Start at the accessible end, but keep several possibilities open. Blocked nozzles or debris in a removable screen may reduce or distort spray. A flow-control component can also be obstructed. “Pressure” and “flow” are often used interchangeably in casual troubleshooting, but a spray that feels weak does not establish which part is responsible. Diagnose the installation rather than replacing the first component that appears related.

Connection leaks
